THE WORLD MAP OF FRA MAURO
Volume size 36 x 51 cm. – 48 color plates – edited by Tullia Gasparrini Leporace, formerly director of the Marciana Library of Venice.

The World Map of Fra Mauro Camaldolese of Murano, realized by the city administration of Venice through a competition of the Ministry of Education and the Giorgio Cini Foundation, was reproduced by the State Polygraphic Institute and Mint in l954, in limited copies, on the occasion of the seventh centennial of the birth of Marco Polo (l254-l954).

For its massiveness and the richness of the data it contains it is universally recognized as the most important medieval cartographic document and is defined as the apotheosis of ecclesiastical cartography.
On request, the plates inserted in the volume can be furnished mounted on canvas (2.20 x 2.20 meters) in actual size, like the precious antique preserved in the Marciana Library of Venice.
